How to Write SEO Web Content

Search engine optimization (SEO) is what search engines use to determine where on search results your website or blog ends up. It is used by webmasters to write content on their website that allows users searching from to something relative to their site, to find them. If you are running a website or blog, you can utilize SEO with your content to appear at the top of search results. It takes a combination of keywords, unique content, and sometimes links or images to produce SEO web content.

Keyword Research

The first step to writing SEO web content is performing proper research. You need to come up with a list of primary and secondary keywords to use in the content. This can be done a number of ways, including using the Google keyword search tool or your own keyword search tools. Choose keywords that are searched often but with low competition. The keywords you use should take up about 2% of the content but not more than 5% otherwise search engines deem it “keyword stuffing” and won’t bump the site to the top of search engine results.

Utilize Keywords

Now that you have your keywords, you can use them in the content. As mentioned previously, don’t overuse the keywords. This is why it’s beneficial to have several of them; aim for 3-5 that can each be used once or twice in the article, web content, or blog post. If you were only able to get one keyword phrase relevant to the web content, use it three times. Once in the first sentence, once in the body of the content, and once in the last paragraph. The keywords should be entered exactly as is, even if the phrase doesn’t make sense. However they should be used naturally; quality, unique content gets more views that poor quality content.

Use Other Tools

Links and images can also help you get quality SEO web content written. Inbound (links coming from other websites) and outbound links (links coming from your own to other areas) can be utilized. Like keywords, the major search engines want links to look natural and not make the content difficult to read. Aim for no more than 1-2 links per paragraph, otherwise it is difficult to read and distracting from the content in question. You can use the web content to link to other areas of the website within the same domain; this increases the quality of the SEO content and gives users a reason to stick around on the website. The more time someone spends on any site in particular, the higher their rating and the higher on search results the site will appear.
